Accelerating Literacy Learning III – Writing
This comprehensive 10-hour asynchronous course serves as the fourth and final installment in the ALL Ohio Literacy Learning Program designed to advance teachers’ expertise in developing students’ foundational and compositional writing skills through the evidence-based Structured Literacy approach. This course includes two self-paced modules with supplementary readings and assignments. The course is grounded in Sedita’s (2019) Writing Rope and Sedita’s (2021) Not-So-Simple View of Writing. Participants will systematically explore transcription writing skills, foundational writing skills, the cognitive processes and demands of writing, structured writing instruction, and the phases of the writing process. By course completion, educators will possess both the theoretical foundation, knowledge of current research, and practical strategies necessary to implement research-based practices that lead to proficient writing skills in all learners.
